Shool under the sky
LEEDO runs informal Schools Under the Sky using ‘Human Values’ and ‘Living Values’ programmes in areas where street children are concentrated. This includes train and bus stations, market areas and launch terminals.
This approach to schooling is designed to educate street children, enabling them to read and write as well as to receive essential life-skills training
Rescue from Streets
Our volunteers and mobilizing team regularly rescue homeless and less fortunate children from streets, train terminals, bus stands, big shopping centre under the bridge and flyover between age 5 and 17. These transformative processes enable us to recover vulnerable children, who are struggling to exist on the streets, and give them shelter and a route back to a healthy and dignified life…..
Transitional Shelter SETU
LEEDO operates a Transitional Shelter SETU ~ providing a bridge from street-life to home-life ~ at Babu Bazar, where children, who are in need of a shelter, are invited to stay.
When a child arrives at the shelter, we immediately address his or her basic needs including nutritious food, clothing, a bed, medical treatment, entertainment and essential facilities.
Peace Home
LEEDO has a home named Peace Home (It is generous supported by family of Dear Carl and Dear Liz ) with full facilities where homeless and less fortunate street children can begin to lead more normal lives.
It is the first permanent home specifically built for street kids and there is no discrimination between boys and girls, normal and disabled. The children are supported here until they can be mainstreamed. We have now 50 children.
Mobile School
We run a Mobile School specifically for Street Kids in various catchment areas in Dhaka. It is an innovative project to educate street kids and make them aware of how to keep safe and develop a goal for life. The education system is based on games and entertainment. Orphan Sponsorship
LEEDO sponsors orphan and street children who are desperately need support to live as human being. They are benefitting from formal education and being nurtured as holistically as possible.
Every effort is made to reintegrate with their families, children living in slum conditions. We are now sponsoring children who are going to school and they are also getting monthly nutritional support…
Reintegration to Families
LEEDO firmly believes that a shelter is a far better place for a child to live than on the streets and that the most desirable abode can be none other than with his or her own family members. Children’s mental and emotional states are best served by their family, and in particular, their parents.
So, integral to our work is the FAMILY RE-INTEGRATION programme that helps children return to their families.When a child is rescued from the streets, we provide basic services (i.e. food, shelter, healthcare) and with the aid of police and other linkages, we seek out his or her family.
Refer to Other Organization’s Shelter
If a child’s family remains untraceable or the condition of the family is such that it would hamper the child’s wellbeing and growth, we arrange for the child to be looked after by one of our associate organizations, such as Dhaka AhsaniaMission,SOS Children Village, Shishu Polli Plus, SEEP, the SCAR project operated under the Department of Social Welfare, etc.
Using this REFER strategy, these organizations meet the long-term rehabilitation needs of children. In the past year we referred approximately 400 children to other organization’s shelter for their long-term support.
Computer and ICT Training
We have already started to provide basic computer literacy to the children at Peace Home. The computer classes are scheduled for 05 days within a week so that our children can learn it effectively. There are 12 computers in our Lab and each of children gets an opportunity to learn.They can type in word. This training is helping of our street children to be skilled on ICT which is mandatory for the development of our nation and cope up with the globalized world.
Primary and Mass Education
We are starting a literacy and primary education programme in Habiganj, Sylhet. This initiative will run jointly with the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. We will endeavour to make primary education available to more children, women and other people. This intervention will make a great difference in the rural areas of Habiganj.
Street Family Village

Raising Awareness
When opportunities arise, such as special occasions and days for celebrating, LEEDO organizes campaigns to raise people’s awareness about health, nutrition, HIV, family bonding and planning etc. As always, children are the focus of our work.
