LEEDO envisions a beautiful and equitable Bangladesh, free from street children and discrimination. Realizing this dream requires everyone's cooperation.
Dhaka is the capital and largest megacity of Bangladesh, a densely populated country. According to a 2020 estimate, Dhaka's metropolitan population is around 21 million, which is about 11% of the country's total population. In terms of population, Dhaka is the second-largest city in South Asia and the seventh-largest in the world.
The city's day begins with hustle and bustle. New people are constantly being added to the city's total population. People flock to Dhaka hoping for a better life or at least to find two meals a day. Various organizations report that there are approximately 1.3 million street children in Bangladesh, although this figure is quite old and there are differing opinions on it. How can the country progress if it fails to improve the lives of this large segment of its population?

These children shouldn’t be a burden on the country; they need to be transformed into its assets. Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO), a non-profit non-governmental development organization, has been working tirelessly since 2000 to improve the lives of these street-dwelling children. LEEDO’s work is based on four core principles, the 4 Rs (Rescue, Reffer, Reintegration).
