Since 2010, LEEDO has empowered streetconnected children through schools, shelters, and the Peace Home, supporting their safety, education, and overall well-being. With the support of Street Child United, LEEDO operates a sanitary pad production initiative, ensuring access to safe menstrual hygiene products for girls within its projects and for street-connected girls in the community. This effort not only promotes health and school attendance but also fosters dignity, confidence, and mental well-being. The initiative is childled, with girls actively involved in producing sanitary pads for their own use and for their peers, symbolizing empowerment and selfreliance.
The “Empowering Survivors through Skill Development” project provides vocational training in mobile servicing, electrical wiring, and tailoring for children at Kamalapur TSSB Shelter and Peace Home, helping them build skills for self-reliance.
Last year, 10 children successfully graduated from the program.
The project aims to form a children and youthled journalist group in Dhaka City, supported by LEEDO and media experts. The group will be trained to raise awareness and advocate against violence, abuse, and discrimination toward children through news stories, videos, and photo exhibitions.
A core team of 20 child journalists will train another group, ensuring continuity and sustainability. Together, they will promote development journalism to influence policymakers, service providers, and communities toward a more child-friendly and equitable society in Bangladesh.
LEEDO represents Bangladesh at global Street Child tournaments, selecting and training children from the streets of Dhaka. For many, it is the first time leaving their community, flying on a plane, and representing their country.
