“The Children Behind the Brands: From Aquafina to Zara, Plastic Bottle Recycling Chains and the Children They Exploit” Landmark Report Launched in London Calls for Global Accountability

We are proud to share that the groundbreaking report, “The Children Behind the Brands: From Aquafina to Zara, Plastic Bottle Recycling Chains and the Children They Exploit,” has been officially launched in London, in the presence of LEEDO’s Founder and Executive Director, Forhad Hossain. Co-authored by Mike Sherriff and Saif Osmani, and published by Friends of Street Children Bangladesh (FSCBD) in collaboration with LEEDO, this crucial publication shines a spotlight on the informal, highly exploitative labor of street-connected children in Dhaka. While global corporations proudly market their sustainability milestones, it is these vulnerable children who form the unacknowledged backbone of the multi-billion-dollar recycled-plastics supply chain. It is time for global brands, consumer advocates, and international labor organizations to look beyond green labels and take direct responsibility for the children who make their recycling possible. The silence must end. The children behind the brands deserve visibility, protection, and a future.
