Cricket Practice at LEEDO: Nurturing Talent, Confidence, and Opportunity
At LEEDO, cricket is more than a game—it is a pathway to empowerment, inclusion, and personal growth. Through regular cricket practice sessions, children develop physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and resilience while enjoying a safe and supportive environment.
Under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors, children participate in structured training that focuses on batting, bowling, fielding, match strategy, and sportsmanship. These sessions help build confidence and provide children with opportunities to showcase their abilities while fostering a sense of belonging and achievement.
LEEDO has a remarkable history of success in cricket. In 2019, a team of boys and girls from LEEDO Peace Home represented Bangladesh in the Street Child Cricket World Cup in England. The team, consisting of children who had once survived on the streets of Dhaka, reached the semi-finals of the tournament and earned the opportunity to play at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground, widely known as the “Home of Cricket.” During the tournament, they secured victories against teams from Mauritius, Nepal, the West Indies, and North India, demonstrating extraordinary determination and talent.
Building on this achievement, LEEDO’s children once again represented Bangladesh at the Street Child Cricket World Cup held in Chennai, India, in 2023. The mixed-gender team competed against young players from multiple countries, carrying a powerful message about the rights, protection, education, and well-being of street-connected children. Their participation highlighted LEEDO’s commitment to creating opportunities that allow vulnerable children to thrive and be heard on the global stage.
These international achievements reflect the transformative impact of LEEDO’s sports programs. Through regular cricket practice and participation in national and international competitions, LEEDO continues to inspire children to dream beyond their circumstances, develop their potential, and become confident ambassadors for positive change.
Today, every cricket practice session at LEEDO carries forward this legacy—empowering children with skills, confidence, and hope while proving that talent can flourish when children are given the opportunity, care, and support they deserve.
