The Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO) incorporates the principles of Substance Use Prevention Education (SUPE) into its work with street-connected and vulnerable children. Through awareness sessions, group discussions, counseling, recreational activities, and life-skills training, children learn about the harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and other addictive substances.

The program helps children understand the physical, emotional, social, and economic consequences of substance abuse while encouraging healthy choices, self-confidence, and resilience. LEEDO’s social workers and educators create a safe environment where children can openly discuss challenges, build trust, and develop positive coping mechanisms.

SUPE activities are conducted through LEEDO’s School Under the Sky (SUS) centers, transitional shelters, and Peace Home program. In addition to working directly with children, LEEDO engages families and communities to strengthen protective support systems and create safer environments for vulnerable children.

By integrating SUPE into its child protection framework, LEEDO is helping children make informed decisions and build healthier, safer, and more hopeful futures.
